Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 1 cup water
  • 5 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 6 tablespoons whole milk
  • 5 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 4 cups confectioners sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 10×15 inch baking sheet.
  2. In a saucepan, melt the butter with water and cocoa powder over low heat until boiling; set aside to cool.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together sour cream and eggs.
  4. In a stand mixer, combine flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the sour cream mixture.
  5. Once cooled slightly, mix in the chocolate mixture until just combined.
