- 1 cup + 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour

- 1 1/2 cups very hot water
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a medium mixing bowl, combine 1 cup plus 3 tablespoons of all-purpose flour, 2 teaspoons of baking powder, ½ teaspoon of salt, ¾ cup of granulated sugar, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, ½ teaspoon each of nutmeg and cloves.
- In a small mixing bowl, blend together ½ cup of pumpkin puree, ¼ cup of milk, ¼ cup melted butter or vegetable oil, and 1½ teaspoons of vanilla.
- Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until combined.
- Transfer the batter to an 8-inch casserole dish. In a separate bowl, mix together ½ cup granulated sugar, ½ cup brown sugar, and ¼ cup chopped pecans; sprinkle this topping over the batter.
- Carefully pour 1½ cups of very hot water over the entire mixture without stirring.
- Bake for about 40 minutes or until the center is set. Allow cooling for about 5–10 minutes before serving.
