Ingredients
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup water
- 1/2 cup liquid glucose/light corn syrup
- Few drops black gel food coloring
- 6 Granny Smith apples (or 12 small apples)
Instructions
- Prepare your baking sheet by greasing a piece of baking paper and placing it on a tray.
- Insert bamboo skewers into the apples.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, combine sugar, water, corn syrup, and black food coloring. Stir until dissolved.
- Stop stirring once dissolved; wash down sides of the pot with water.
- Cook until reaching hard crack stage (150ºC/310ºF). Test by dropping some caramel in ice-cold water.
- Dip each apple into the caramel mixture, swirling to coat thoroughly.
- Place dipped apples on the prepared baking sheet and allow them to cool before serving.
