  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 medium onion, grated
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried sage
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 large sweet potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 cup chicken stock
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated onion, minced garlic, smoked paprika, dried sage, egg, olive oil, salt, and pepper until just combined. Form into golf-ball-sized meatballs.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and brown the meatballs for about 6 minutes. Transfer them to a plate.
  3. Boil peeled and cubed sweet potatoes in salted water until tender (12-15 minutes). Drain.
  4. In the same skillet, add maple syrup and chicken stock to deglaze. Return meatballs and simmer for 8-10 minutes until cooked through.
  5. Mash drained sweet potatoes with butter, heavy cream, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until creamy.
