Instructions
- In a small saucepan, melt butter, brown sugar, and corn syrup over medium heat until smooth. Pour into the bottom of a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Arrange the sliced French bread in a single layer over the caramel base.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla extract, salt, and optional cinnamon until well combined. Pour evenly over the bread.
- Press down gently to ensure absorption and cover with plastic wrap. Refrigerate overnight.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Allow the casserole to sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes before baking.
- Bake uncovered for 35-40 minutes until golden brown and set. Cool slightly before slicing and serving.
