- 3/4 pound extra lean ground beef
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
- 1 (15-ounce) can chopped stewed tomatoes
- 1 cup beef broth
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 (15-ounce) can pinto beans, rinsed and drained
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- In a large saucepan over medium heat, add the ground beef, minced garlic, and chopped onion. Cook for about 10 minutes until the beef is browned, stirring frequently. Drain excess liquid.
- Stir in chopped stewed tomatoes, beef broth, chili powder, cumin, oregano, and cayenne pepper. Combine well.
- Lower the heat and cover the saucepan. Let it simmer on low for one hour, stirring occasionally.
- After an hour, add the rinsed pinto beans and salt. Stir thoroughly and cook for an additional 15 minutes.
