- 1 cup chopped pecans or almonds
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup butter
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Chocolate chips (for topping)

- Flaked sea salt (optional)
Instructions
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, combine butter, sugar, salt, and water. Stir until butter melts.
- Cook the mixture while stirring occasionally until it reaches 300°F (hard crack stage), about 20-30 minutes.
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla and half of the nuts.
- Pour the hot mixture onto the prepared baking sheet and spread evenly. Top with chocolate chips, allowing them to melt slightly before spreading into an even layer.
- Garnish with remaining nuts and optional flaked sea salt. Let cool completely before breaking into pieces.
