  • 2 jars maraschino cherries (10 ounces each)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • 2 tablespoons maraschino cherry juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a loaf pan by greasing it.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix together granulated sugar, milk, canola oil, egg, and almond extract until combined.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to the wet mixture until just combined.
  4. Drain and chop the maraschino cherries; fold them into the batter.
  5. Pour into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 50–60 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  7. For the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar, melted butter, reserved cherry juice, and almond extract until smooth. Spread over cooled bread.
