Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (80% lean)
  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 tbsp tomato sauce or ketchup
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp yellow mustard
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 8 oz button mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cups low-sodium beef broth
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tsp water (slurry, for thickening)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, panko breadcrumbs, tomato sauce, egg, yellow mustard, Worcestershire sauce, oregano, black pepper, and salt. Mix gently and shape into four patties.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sear patties until browned on both sides (about 4-5 minutes each). Remove and set aside.
